The triple spiral is an ancient goddess symbol which represents eternity. Although its circularity is infinite in nature, the spiral means that the same point is never covered twice. This represents the constant journey the individual undergoes throughout their natural life and in their journey to higher knowledge. Indeed, the journey of life, and love, involves constant inquiry, questioning, growth and development. Rather than being caught in the cycle of birth, death and rebirth, Erosology is about breaking cycles, patterns of behaviour and routines to realise higher knowledge and transcend the limits of the physical world.
The spiral can be read as moving outwards from the centre or inwards from its very externality. This represents the fundamental dualism of Erosology, the bridging of the esoteric with the exoteric. On the one hand, Erosology is about rational consideration of one's physical world and practical relationships, and deducing from the existence of natural phenomena (like love relationships) the existence of internal qualities like capacity for compassion, truth and warmth. This is an exoteric journey. On the other hand, Erosology involves the normative consideration of one's own essence, and of one's place and purpose in the world. This is of course, fundamentally esoteric.
The three spirals are also a symbol of fertility, and therefore of our God, Eros. The symbol in its totality represents the nine month gestation period. Each circle represents a three month period, during which the sun passes the earth in a quasi-helical, spiral shape.
The triadic nature of the triple spiral represents the fundamental unions encapsulated in Erosology:
Sex Masculine Feminine Eternal
Planets Earth Moon Sun
Cycle Death Life Rebirth
Time Past Present Future
Soul Reason Desire Wisdom
Realms Land Sea Sky
Worlds Physical Mental Spiritual
Quests External Internal Transcendent
